Toulouse Football Club would like to do better than last season, when it finished 11th in Ligue 1, while also playing in the Europa League. To do this, TFC will try, as is often the case, to be inventive in the transfer market. The latest recruit from the Haute-Garonne club is not a nugget still unknown to the general public and destined to end up as a capital gain in the short or medium term, as Toulouse’s management have often found. He is rather a veteran with a fine track record and a strong desire to get back on track.
TFC announced on Friday the arrival of Djibril Sidibé, the 2018 world champion with the French team. The former Monaco player had been free since the end of his contract with AEK Athens, where he had tried to relaunch his career after an experience at Everton and a not necessarily thunderous comeback at ASM.
To supervise a young group
Sidibé, 32, has made 225 Ligue 1 appearances, with 11 goals and 25 assists, which have earned him 11 caps for Les Bleus. “Djibril Sidibé will bring his experience to a young but oh so ambitious group,” the club said in a statement.
Among the other signings of the off-season within the squad still coached by Carles Martinez Novell, we find another former Premier League player: defender Charlie Cresswell, from Leeds United.
