The French team needs a point this Wednesday against New Zealand to reach the quarter-finals.

After a narrow victory over Colombia (3-2) and a cruel defeat against Canada (1-2), the Blues have no room for error this Wednesday evening against New Zealand, for their third and final match in this Olympic group stage.

For this decisive duel, Hervé Renard’s players must take at least one point to validate their place in the quarter-finals. But with a big handicap at the start of the match: the absence of their captain Wendie Renard.

Perisset on the match sheet

The leader of the French defense, who came off injured three days earlier against the Canadians, had to resign herself to withdrawing because she had not recovered enough from a big crutch she received to the quadriceps of her left thigh.

The interested party therefore moves to the reserve list, in favor of Eve Périsset who on the contrary is included in the match sheet. Hoping that Wendie Renard can reconnect with her partners from the quarter-finals of the Olympic tournament in the event of qualification.
