Jack Grealish, the ultimate insult

Dwight Yorke has said Jack Grealish will not start at Manchester United and drew comparisons to Marcus Rashford.

The former Red Devils striker has delivered a harsh assessment of Manchester City star Grealish, claiming that on his current form the winger would not make Erik ten Hag’s starting XI. Yorke also compared Grealish’s condition to that of United forward Marcus Rashford, suggesting that the England stars’ dip in form is a concern for both Manchester clubs. After a disappointing 2023-24 campaign for their respective clubs, both players were left out of Gareth Southgate’s 26-man Lions squad that finished runners-up to Spain at the recently concluded Euro 2024.

Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League betting, Yorke said: “Grealish to Man United? Jack Grealish wouldn’t get into the Manchester United team on his current form. He’s similar to Rashford, who was paid a lot of money and has a lot of potential but is falling apart. You don’t mind going through a phase where you’re not a bit behind and we all have those moments, but the drop-off is significant in both players.

Players on the decline?

“The question is whether they have really focused on what got them to where they are. Those are probably questions that only those two players can answer. They have ability in abundance, that’s why Grealish was worth a hundred million. That’s why Rashford is in the bracket because he has all the attributes to be that type of player. What we’ve seen is the decline. There must be something wrong, it’s up to United and City to figure it out.”

Grealish will be in action again on Tuesday when City take on Barcelona in a pre-season friendly. Rashford, meanwhile, will be on the pitch for Ten Hag’s side against Real Betis on Wednesday.
