After celebrating his 18th birthday on July 21, the young forward was allowed to finalize his transfer from Palmeiras to the Santiago Bernabéu. The youngster was officially unveiled in the Spanish capital, with emotion overflowing from him on the big day.
Endrick said of his tears as he follows in the footsteps of Los Blancos legend CR7: “I didn’t plan it, but I’ve loved Real Madrid since I was a child. I saw Cristiano Ronaldo and thanks to him I wanted to know a little more about Real Madrid. A few years ago I studied all the idols, including (Emilio) Butragueno. Since I was a child I’ve been in love with Real Madrid. I didn’t want to cry, but it came from my soul.”
Endrick opens up
Endrick scored 21 goals in 79 appearances for Palmeiras, while earning 10 caps for the Brazilian national team. He says Madrid was the only destination he was prepared to consider when he left his country, and that he had set himself bold long-term goals. He added: ” I have been in love with Madrid since I was a child, I wanted to come here. When the negotiations started, the only thing I asked was if Madrid was in the negotiations. I was not interested in any other club. I always wanted Real Madrid. I have been signing for a long time. I hope to stay here for the rest of my life.”
Becoming a mainstay at Real will not be easy for Endrick, as competition is fierce in Spain. He joined Los Blancos just weeks after World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe, while the La Liga and Champions League title holders also have Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo on their radar.
