Roberto De Zerbi’s OM continues to gain momentum in the preparation phase. This Saturday, and only three days after beating Toulon (3-0), the Phocéens beat Pau by the same score.
Greenwood opens his goal account
The team lined up doesn’t really look like a typical eleven. Among those who are supposed to play as starters in the coming season, there were only Balerdi, Brassier, Merlin and Greenwood. That didn’t stop the Provençaux from signing a quiet victory, with one goal scored per half.
The first goal was the work of Mason Greenwood. For his second match with his new club, the English winger was able to put himself forward and open his goal account. In the heart of the first half, he made the difference in the area before arming a powerful shot with his left. The ball ended up under the crossbar.
OM in his hand
The second goal for Marseille was scored by Luis Henrique. The Brazilian broke the deadlock by finishing victoriously with his right foot after having blown away two opposing defenders. He thus scored points in the eyes of his coach. The young Darryl Bakola did the same at the very end of the game, by converting an offering from Ben Seghir.
Marseille will start their championship on August 18 against Brest. Before that, the Olympians will play two more friendlies. It will be on August 3 against Sunderland, then on the 10th against Augsburg.
