After a rather successful first season with PSG, Luis Enrique now wants to move up a gear with his team. And with the departure of Kylian Mbappé, the Spanish coach knows that he will be able to fully rebuild his eleven. In this sense, the Parisian management wants to give itself the means to achieve its ambitions and has already started to study certain avenues. A few weeks ago, the name of João Neves had been associated with the capital club. The Benfica nugget, who participated in the Euro with Vitinha’s Portugal, Nuno Mendes and Danilo, had convinced Luis Enrique.

The 19-year-old midfielder has a release clause set at 120 million euros, but his club, according to the Portuguese press, will let him leave if he receives a proposal of around 100 million. Negotiations had therefore begun a few weeks ago with PSG, who had made an initial offer of 70 million. Refused. With the probable sale of Manuel Ugarte to Manchester United, the Parisians have visibly outbid him with a proposal of 90 million for the Tavira native, who is Luis Campos and Luis Enrique’s priority to strengthen the midfield.

Liverpool, new priority

But if the 19-year-old star is still thinking about leaving his training club so early, PSG will have to fight with a new club in this matter. According to information from Mail from ManhaLiverpool has entered the race for João Neves and has serious arguments to put forward. To start a new cycle, the English club now coached by the Dutchman Arne Slot wants to strike hard. The Portuguese daily explains that Liverpool is clearly determined to match the 100 million euros requested by Benfica and seems ready to part with certain players to increase its transfer window.

A solid argument that could well allow the English club to overtake PSG. Above all, Liverpool has maintained very good relations with Benfica since the transfer in 2022 of Darwin Núñez for the modest sum of… 100 million euros. This could help in this case as Arne Slot has asked his management for a more creative profile in the middle, hence the Neves track. PSG has been warned, if it really wants to recover the 19-year-old Portuguese, it will have to take out the checkbook…
