With Enzo Maresca, Chelsea doesn’t really know where it’s going. Brilliant last season with Leicester, the Italian coach has only been an assistant coach in clubs of the size of the Stamford Bridge residents. With all this uncertainty surrounding his ability to take charge of such a team, the 44-year-old coach was interviewed this Monday by the club’s media. The opportunity for him to reveal his objectives with the Blues. And it’s simple, Maresca wants to compete with the best teams in England and Europe:
“That’s the main point, because when you join a club like Chelsea, you know that it’s a club that has to win. So, for our part, we’re going to do our best to be there, to fight and compete with the clubs that are currently winning and fighting to win titles. I’m very excited. One of the reasons why I’m here is because I’m convinced that the team is very good and full of talent. The most important thing now is that we are able to create the right culture that motivates us for the season.»
