Despite the golden contract that Real Madrid offered him, Kylian Mbappé will not be the highest paid player in the Spanish championship.

Transferred from PSG without any compensation, Kylian Mbappé received a nice signing bonus when he arrived at Real Madrid. He also benefited from a substantial salary, the highest in the Merengue locker room. However, this does not make him the best footballer in the Spanish championship.

Mbappé beaten by two Barcelona players

Two FC Barcelona players are ahead of him in this very particular ranking. With his annual €31.2 million, he is behind Frenkie De Jong (€37.5 million) and Robert Lewandowski (€33.5 million). They are also the only 3 players in La Liga to earn more than €30 million per year.

As a reminder, and even if he did not receive all his monthly payments, Mbappé was earning 72 million gross per year during his last year at PSG. On this side, he had to make some serious sacrifices to sign for the Merengue. That said, he is not a total loser and the significant bonuses he could receive are enough to console him in the future.

It should also be noted that Mbappé has also lost his status as the highest paid French footballer. This label now goes to his former teammate in the national team, Karim Benzema. The latter is entitled to €200 million per year in Saudi Arabia. That is six times more than what the Bondy player receives in Madrid.
