Chelsea will have a makeover next year. Having finished the season on a high note with a sixth place at the very end of the championship under the leadership of Mauricio Pochettino, the Argentinian coach has finally decided to leave his post after several trying months at the helm of the Blues. Caught off guard, the London leaders decided to surprise everyone by betting on Enzo Maresca. While several big names like Thomas Tuchel and Roberto De Zerbi were associated with the position, it was finally the Italian tactician from Leicester who was appointed.
Asked for the first time about this surprise appointment, Maresca expressed his pride at joining the London club. The former Foxes mastermind also took the opportunity to make a nice promise to everyone: “you just have to trust the process, trust the idea, support the team. We will definitely enjoy this journey. As in all clubs, for all managers, it will not be easy because nothing is easy. But we will definitely enjoy our adventure. At that moment, when you join a club, you try to analyse what the club and the team need to improve and do the right things. For me, it is clear that we have to create as quickly as possible the right mentality and the right culture, a culture that the fans can be proud of. That is very important.»
