Free since the end of his mission at Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino has put himself forward for a position. In vain.

Mauricio Pochettino has only been in charge of Chelsea for one year. The Argentinian coach is full of energy and would like to bounce back quickly. Recently, he tried his luck with a very prestigious role but was not retained.

The former PSG coach applied to take charge of the English national team, replacing Gareth Southgate. Without success, the FA told him that it was looking for technicians with a different profile. To his great dismay.

Pochettino and Mourinho, same fight

Currently, the number one favourite to coach the Three Lions is Eddie Howe, the current manager of the Magpies. Then come Graham Potter or Thomas Tuchel. The option of Jurgen Klopp has also been mentioned, but the German coach wants to enjoy some time off following a gruelling mission at Liverpool.

Pochettino is not the only high-profile manager to have been snubbed by the English football establishment. According to the Daily Star, Jose Mourinho also sought to reclaim the job despite his commitment to Istanbul’s Fenerbahce. He received the same response.
