Brighton spends €30m on Mats Wieffer

Brighton announced on Friday evening the recruitment of Dutch international midfielder Mats Wieffer, from Feyenoord Rotterdam. After the signings of Yakuba Minteh (Newcastle) and Ibrahim Osman (Nordsjaelland), the Seagulls have acquired the Dutchman (24 years old, 9 caps), who has signed until 2029. Amount of the operation? 30 million euros. “Brighton & Hove Albion are pleased to confirm the signing of Dutch international Mats Wieffer from Feyenoord on a contract until 2029”specifies the press release from the English team.

He has plenty of experience in the Champions League as well as the Eredivisie and has developed into one of the best midfielders in Europe. We obviously already have Dutch players here in Bart Verbruggen, Jan Paul van Hecke and Joel Veltman and I am sure they will help Mats settle into the club.
