England have a date with history this Sunday in the Euro final against Spain. For this second consecutive final of the Three Lions in this competition, after the defeat against Italy (1-1, 3-2 tab) in 2021, the coach Gareth Southgate and his men know that they are expected to deliver.
But while failure remains a possibility, the 53-year-old has strong support from the English Federation. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the FA would like to extend his contract, even in the event of a defeat against La Roja.
Discussions already underway
The transfer specialist claims that the Watford-born coach has already been contacted by the English football governing body, who have reaffirmed their confidence in him.
The FA are aware of the work Southgate has done since his appointment in September 2016 and are keen for him to continue leading the national team for years to come.
