The end is fast approaching for Amandine Henry, aged 34. The former star player of Olympique Lyonnais is preparing for the women’s football tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which could well be her last competition with the Blues. The French selection must validate its qualification for Euro 2025 in a few days, but the midfielder could very well bow out on the international stage this summer, having left to play in the United States championship last year (having arrived in Angel City, she was transferred to the Utah Royals).
On the occasion of a documentary on her career produced by Canal+, Amandine Henry was interviewed by TV 7 Days and thus confided her desire to become a mother soon. “Yes, but for now, I’m focused on the Olympics with the French team. We’ll see what happens after, because it’s complicated to combine the two. At some point, however, we’ll have to make a choice.”she replied, while she has shared her life with Karim for 13 years, after meeting him at the Lambersart club, in the suburbs of Lille.

Amandine Henry also mentioned her future reconversion and the seven-time winner of the Champions League with the Fenottes is quite precise: “I would like to become a sports director in order to give back to football everything it has given me. I like to see former players get involved in the development of women’s football. How happy I am when little girls, but also more and more little boys, show us their support, through social networks, or directly. Mentalities are changing…”
In the meantime, Henry (104 caps) is one of the four centenarians in Hervé Renard’s team, along with Eugénie Le Sommer (192), Wendie Renard (159) and Kadidiatou Diani (100) preparing for the Olympics. Les Bleus conclude the Euro 2025 qualifiers with two matches against the Netherlands and Ireland in the coming days, before switching to the Olympic tournament and facing Colombia, Canada and New Zealand in their group, on July 25, 28 and 31. With the dream of finishing at the Parc des Princes to win the gold medal at home.
