He had been expected for a while now. After doing an excellent job on the Bologna bench, Thiago Motta was expected to take over the Juventus helm and succeed Massimiliano Allegri, who was dismissed a few weeks ago. And indeed, after several weeks of suspense, the former PSG player has finally been officially announced as the head of the Piedmontese team. Since then, he has already launched the major maneuvers to get this giant of Italian football back on track.

And of course, the number one project of the young Italian coach is none other than to rebuild a squad considered to be of low quality. The Italian management has been clear, Thiago Motta has full powers and will be listened to both in terms of arrivals and departures. The first movements should take place in the coming days with the recruitment of certain players. But the Old Lady will also have to clean up its squad while several elements, with big salaries, have disappointed since their arrival.

Thiago Motta wants to clean up

In this sense, Thiago Motta has already targeted the players he does not wish to keep next season. The former Bologna coach, who asked his management to quickly take care of the transfer window to begin summer preparation with an almost final squad, wants to separate two or four players according to information from Tuttosport. Tracked by Aston Villa, the American Weston McKennie is very close to a transfer to the Premier League in the same way as his partner, Samuel Iling-Junior, also involved in the deal for the recruitment of Douglas Luiz. But they’re not the only ones who can pack their bags.

Thiago Motta does not want to keep Moise Kean, Arkadiusz Milik and Filip Kostic. He believes that they do not correspond to what he wants to put in place in his team. Moise Kean, former PSG striker, disappointed with his return to Juve and remains in a catastrophic season (20 matches, 0 goals, 0 assists). At 24 years old, he should have no trouble bouncing back after his loan last January from Atlético de Madrid failed at the last second. For Milik, who played for OM, the situation is the same with 8 small goals in 37 matches and injuries which prevent him from continuing. The 30-year-old striker is not a profile appreciated by Motta and is therefore placed on the transfer list. The Motta version of Juventus is slowly starting to take shape.
