Since the start of the Euro in Germany, Kylian Mbappé has been positioned in a central role by Didier Deschamps but with quite significant freedom of movement. A position in which he has not yet managed to be very effective, even if he is the only French scorer in this competition.
The former Parisian is much more comfortable when he is positioned on the left side. But there is an obligation to make room for others, like Marcus Thuram in particular. The consequence is that it has lost profitability, even though its problems date back several months already.
“Mbappé was born a goalscorer”
In the columns of Le Parisien, Xavier Gravelaine was invited to give his opinion concerning the difficulties encountered by the Bondynois. For him, the reason is that the latter has a very limited register and it is difficult to diversify. He particularly encouraged him to take inspiration from the transformation that Cristiano Ronaldo has experienced.
“He is capable of doing it. When you see players like Ronaldo, they have played on the left, in the middle, everywhere. If he wants to establish his authority at world level, he has to adapt. It requires a different game, the angles are not the same,” confided the former international (4 selections).
When asked where he prefers to see Mbappé, Gravelaine answers : “In the middle, you have to be served and have a greater peripheral vision. But he was born a goalscorer. He played a lot on the left, now it’s a question of adjustments.”
