The French team enters the competition this Monday in its Euro 2024 and will face Austria to launch its competition. Besides this, the news of the Blues takes a political turn. While the legislative elections will take place on Sunday June 30, several players have been asked to take a position. Today, Marcus Thuram notably took a position against the National Rally. A posture which will not be that of the French Football Federation. In a press release, the institution declared that it did not want to take a position with a view to the next elections.

“Since the start of the week, the players of the French team have almost all been questioned during their visit to a press conference, on the consequences of the results from the polls during the European elections on Sunday June 9. Each of them was able to express themselves freely, according to their own convictions and their own sensitivity. Very attached to freedom of expression and citizenship, the French Football Federation supports the necessary call to vote, a democratic requirement. It also wants its neutrality as an institution, as well as that of the national selection for which it is responsible, to be understood and respected by all. As such, it is appropriate to avoid any form of pressure and political use of the French team. As the Blues enter the competition on Monday against Austria, the FFF wishes the coach, the staff and the focused and determined players every success.”we can read.
