Manchester City striker Erling Haaland was asked to identify himself to hooded police during an armed raid on a Marbella beach club.

The 23-year-old striker is enjoying his summer break after helping City to a historic Premier League title triumph in 2023-24 – with the prolific Norwegian landing himself another Golden Boot along the way. He currently has no football news (apart from being worth a billion euros) after failing to help his country qualify for Euro 2024.

Haaland is taking the opportunity to relax, with a stay in France before heading to the south of Spain, where he is rumored to be at Real Madrid. He regularly visits Marbella and the popular Playa Padre club. His last visit, however, proved memorable for all the wrong reasons.

A memorable visit

Haaland was forced to show identification after seeing security forces in riot gear forcing their way into the bar in question, while a helicopter hovered overhead. A similar raid took place recently at the famous Ocean Beach club in Puerto Banus, with local police as part of the Operation Marbella project.

Tourists have been told to prepare for unplanned and unexpected raids, with police quick to stress that “nothing serious is happening” and they are just carrying out “routine” checks. Haaland might think twice before returning to the area in the future.
