The situation of Julian Alvarez at Manchester City is paradoxical. This season, the Argentine striker has been started 31 times (in 36 appearances, 11 goals) by Pep Guardiola in the Premier League. Not so bad for a player who has often played in the shadow of Erling Haaland. But in the Champions League, the “spider” is still not one of his coach’s first choices (2 starts in 7 appearances) and his very low use during the quarter-final against Real Madrid was a cause for concern.

Under contract with the Cityzens until 2028, Alvarez believes he deserves better and must undoubtedly be frustrated not to see his status as world champion weigh a little more. It is therefore no surprise that new departure rumors have been circulating recently. On the other side of the Pyrenees, the Madrid press has mentioned an interest from Atlético de Madrid. The Colchoneros have just let Memphis Depay go, so the Dutchman must be replaced. But that’s not all.

Alvarez, it’s at least €80 million

Chelsea would also be on board. The Blues are still bulimic when it comes to the transfer window and they would like to add an experienced scorer to an attack which already includes Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson. The fact remains that the Londoners are obliged to sell several items by June 30 to remain within the guidelines of the Premier League’s financial fair play. Enough to cool down the Alvarez track, especially given the price asked by City (at least €80 million)? Argentinian media TyC Sports confirms in any case that a third thief would be in the game: Paris Saint-Germain.

The capital club will undoubtedly look to replace Kylian Mbappé and Alvarez would be a clicking name. However, PSG already has two center forwards with Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani. Should he really try to strengthen himself in the center if he does not part with one of the two attackers mentioned above? Waiting for, TyC Sport recalls that Paris was already interested at the time City signed the player. Finally, the media explains that the choice of city will mean a lot to Alvarez’s family. And at this level, Paris has some choice arguments to put forward, even if City and the Rouge et Bleu have almost never done business when it comes to the transfer window.
