Bayern Munich drew the curtain on a disappointing 2023-24 season, ending with a third place unworthy of its standing. Faced with this sad record, a wind of change is blowing over the Bavarian club.
First sign of this metamorphosis: the departure of coach Thomas Tuchel and the arrival of his Belgian counterpart, Vincent Kompany. The former Citizens central defender’s mission is to restore luster to the Rekordmeister and breathe new dynamism into the team.
Müller and Neuer, the last Mohicans
And the changes shouldn’t stop there. According to the German press, several departures are planned, including the probable transfer of Matthijs De Ligt. In total, five to six players are expected to leave the Bavarian ship. However, two FC Hollywood executives should escape the mass exodus: Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer. Indeed, Bild reports that the club’s management has already decided on their future.
While their respective contracts expire in June 2025, the two 2014 world champions should therefore play their last season under the colors of Bayern Munich. In addition to the sporting aspect, this decision could also be explained by financial considerations. Thus, the departures of Müller and Neuer would allow the Rotten to achieve significant payroll savings, estimated at 40 million euros.
