It’s official since the evening before last. Just three months after his arrival in the Italian capital, Igor Tudor gave up his apron. “SS Lazio announces that Igor Tudor has today resigned as head coach of the first team. The club thanks the coach for his work and wishes him the best of luck personally and professionally.”. To explain this sudden departure of the Croatian, we have to take a look in the celestial locker room.

As in Marseille, Tudor had difficulty living with Mattéo Guendouzi. Same with other elements of the Roman squad such as Daichi Kamada, Taty Castellanos and Mattéo Zaccagni. The Croatian would have even tried to push Guendouzi out, but his leaders opposed it. But another element weighed in the balance. Tudor’s designs for the summer transfer window precipitated the departure of the former OM coach. This was confirmed by Lazio president Claudio Lotito.

A response from Tudor is expected

” You sleep ? He asked us to change eight players. It’s too much for a group that we consider up to par, but he left like an honest person, I want to say that. The new coach? You will soon know, we have clear ideas, but I have not signed a contract yet. What matters is that we will be competitive, we were also this year if we had not lost points against lower ranked teams like Salernitana. This team deserved more”explained Lotito.

Just like Maurizio Sarri, who left by sitting out his last year of contract (at €4 million), Tudor gave up his apron by renouncing the salaries he was to receive until June 2025. It now remains to be known Croatian version. On the other side of the Alps, it was rumored that Tudor was going to give a press conference this Friday. To be continued…
