Due to its well-known financial problems, FC Barcelona will need to make significant sales over the coming weeks and months in order to improve its situation

Financially, Barça is still in a tight spot, particularly regarding the return to the 1:1 rule in La Liga. Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong and Raphinha have been mentioned as possible departures. However, MD have now reported that Barcelona have four items as non-transferable, with Araujo and de Jong being two of them – the others being Pedri Gonzalez and Pablo Gavi.

Araujo has been most strongly linked with a move away this summer, but club bosses are keen to keep him on – they also want him to sign a new contract, with the current one expiring in 2026. The Blaugrana are aware of the interest in the Bayern Munich and Chelsea, but see the Uruguayan as an essential part of Hansi Flick’s plans.

De Jong and Araujo protected

De Jong is another player whose contract expires in 2026 and, although his situation is worrying due to his high salary, the Barcelona bosses expect the Dutch midfielder to be a very important player next season.

If Araujo and de Jong stay, Barcelona will have to consider selling other players. Raphinha seems like a likely candidate given his value, although it won’t be easy to sell anyone.
