PSG might not be the only French club to sign a Russian international this summer.

PSG is preparing to offer the services of one of the great hopes of Russian football, in this case Matvey Safonov. He is a 25-year-old goalkeeper playing for FK Krasnodar. His arrival in the French capital would be almost complete, in return for compensation of around 20 million euros.

The Parisian club’s offensive would have given ideas to OM’s rival. According to the media Sports.ru, the Phocaeans should also bet on a Russian international during the looming transfer window. They would have their sights set on Fedor Chalov, the CSKA Moscow striker. This is what the brother of the person concerned revealed to the media in question.

A third Russian at OM?

Aged 25, Chalov has 246 appearances in the Russian Premier Liga. He also totaled 84 goals. On the other hand, his one and only experience abroad ended in failure. It was at FC Basel during the 2021/2022 campaign, with a small total of 4 goals scored.

As a reminder, OM has already had Russian internationals in its squad in the past. In 1993, Igor Dobrovolski participated in winning the Champions League. A little later, Dimitri Sychev had an interesting stint at the Vélodrome in the mid-2000s, forming an attacking duo with Didier Drogba. So, never two without a troika?
