A few days before the Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, Croatian midfielder Luka Modric looked back on his particular season in the Merengues jersey in an interview with Partidazo de COPE. Less established and considered a luxury replacement in the Madrid rotation, the former Tottenham nugget recognizes that certain passages had been complicated, even in his relationship with Carlo Ancelotti. While his future still remains unknown, the Croatian’s wish is clear, to continue at Real and retire there:
“It was difficult for me to understand and assume my new role. I will never give up, I think I have been an example of attitude in every sense of the word. I don’t think I caused any problems for the coach or anyone. My relationship with Ancelotti went more or less well, as always, with a lot of respect. Of course, when players aren’t playing, if they tell you they’re happy, they’re lying. This is a situation that I experienced. I don’t get used to it and I never gave up.”declared the Croatian midfielder.
