PSG prepares for an unexpected departure

The summer is going to be hectic at the goalkeeper position for PSG. If Gigio Donnarumma is not going to move and will logically still be the number 1 goalkeeper in the hierarchy next season, things will move behind him. Keylor Navas will thus pack his bags, his contract expiring. Alexandre Letellier and Sergio Rico are in the dark, their contract also ending at the end of June. And even if they were to stay, their role would be anecdotal.

But above all, as exclusively revealed by us on Sunday, the capital club will enlist Matvey Safonov, a 25-year-old Russian goalkeeper playing in Krasnodar. A transfer which will still cost the Parisians 20 million euros. Very expensive for a third goalkeeper a priori. Except that, obviously, he doesn’t come to be third in the hierarchy…

Discussions have already taken place

As explained The Team, Arnau Tenas should pack his bags. Author of good performances when he played – in December during the absence of Donnarumma in particular – he wishes to go on loan to obtain playing time. The 22-year-old Spaniard has already asked management to find him a point temporary fall, in the Spanish championship if possible. Former goalkeeper for the Espoirs, he maintains a good rating in his country and should have no difficulty finding clubs interested in his services.

His upcoming departure would therefore further justify the significant investment in Safonov, who would therefore be Donnarumma’s understudy and not the third goalkeeper behind the Italian and the Spaniard. In any case, PSG intends to quickly resolve these issues to focus on other major projects, such as replacing Kylian Mbappé.
