Despite himself, Bamo Meïté witnessed a scene of attempted carjacking targeting two of his teammates. The OM central defender evokes this vision of horror.
Almost a week ago, several Olympique de Marseille players were victims of an attempted carjacking upon their return from Le Havre. The events took place on Route de la Valentine, between the Commanderie training center and the home of victims Faris Moumbagna and Jean Onana.
Bamo Meïte witnessed this dramatic scene. “It’s better to forget and try to move on, I think… Now it’s vacation, I’m trying to clear my mind. Between my injury and the incident that happened, it’s been an eventful year. It was a shocking scene, I was scared, that’s obvious. Now, today, I’m trying to step back from this situation. We are top athletes, we should not be involved in this kind of thing. I don’t want to talk about it too much, even to those close to me.”confided the Ivorian international in the columns of Parisian.
The investigation continues
“These are not things that should happen in the sports environment, continues the former FC Lorient player. Even today, questions remain. The police are investigating and this is being done discreetly. She auditioned us and all this must be accompanied by silence. I spoke to them on the phone (Onana and Moumbagna, editor’s note), we spoke. I told them that we should take advantage of the holidays to free our minds, with our families and loved ones…”.
An investigation was opened by the Marseille prosecutor’s office, entrusted to the organized and specialized crime division (DCOS). The perpetrators, who seemed to know their schedules and routes, fled.
