Defeated yesterday by Erik ten Hag and Manchester United in the FA Cup final (2-1), Pep Guardiola ends his season with only one trophy, the Premier League. Far from having a bad season, his Manchester City team however failed to repeat last year’s treble feat. Not enough to call everything into question. Yet the Daily Mail reports that the Spanish coach is considering a departure.
One year from the end of his contract, Pep Guardiola is still unclear about his future. For the English tabloid, he could not extend and leave at the end of next season. Internally for several months, City has been preparing for the imminent departure of its historic coach (15 trophies brought to the Mancunian club since 2016). Names are already mentioned by the Daily Mail. Michel de Girona, who is already in the fold of the City Group, or even Julian Nagelsmann, who extended his contract a few weeks ago until 2026.
