The Portuguese coach that OM wants on their bench learned bad news Thursday evening.
Sergio Conceiçao would today be OM’s priority for the position of coach. Despite the denial of sports director Mehdi Benatia, the Marseille club would indeed seek to secure the services of the Lusitanian technician.
But the interest is not reciprocal for the moment. The former FC Nantes coach has other ambitions for the rest of his career. He could see himself coaching a giant of the English championship. And his preference is Chelsea. Jorge Mendes, his agent, has already made contact with the Blues board.
OM has free rein for Sergio Conceiçao
Londoners are currently hesitant to bet on the FC Porto coach. They want someone who already has experience of English football. And, according to what The Guardian reports, their sights would have fallen on Enzo Maresca, the man who has just brought Leicester City back to the Premier League.
Chelsea have already asked Leicester City for permission to speak with the Italian. An agreement could occur very quickly and the former Sevilla player would then become Mauricio Pochettino’s successor.
Should we therefore deduce that OM have once again become favorites to enlist Sergio Conceiçao. That would be too easy a shortcut. The first condition for the feasibility of a deal is the willingness of the interested party to come and to date this has still not been verified.
