The next Barça coach has already been chosen by the Catalan leaders!
Uncertainty continues to hover over Xavi Hernandez’s situation as FC Barcelona coach. For now, the noises coming from Catalonia stick to the version that Joan Laporta wants the 44-year-old to leave at the end of the season, and next week’s meeting will bring clarity to the situation.
Deco, the sporting director of FC Barcelona, will lead the meeting and, according to Sport, he is clear on who should take the club forward. If it is decided that Xavi is not that person, he wants Rafa Marquez promoted from Barca Atletic to the first team.
Marquez to succeed Xavi
Deco believes that the current options on the market, which include players like Hansi Flick, Thomas Tuchel and Roberto De Zerbi, do not offer more guarantees than those offered by Marquez.
We must not forget that Laporta would prefer to hire a coach from outside Barça and that Flick is the strongest candidate at this stage. It remains to be seen whether Xavi needs to be replaced, as he continues to be Barca’s coach for the time being.
