Georgia coach since 2021, Willy Sagnol had the pleasure of qualifying for Euro 2024 in Germany via the play-offs in March (after placing 4th in his qualifying group). The former right back of the France team unveiled, on Wednesday, a group of 26 players for the European Nations Championship (June 14-July 14).
Napoli and Georgia star winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is present, as is Georges Mikautadze, who had a great end to the season with FC Metz. Giorgi Mamardashvili, the Valencia goalkeeper, captain Guram Kashia, defender of Slovan Bratislava or Zuriko Davitashvili, the Bordeaux winger, also make up this group.
Georgia-Portugal for the 3rd match
The Jvarosnebi (the Crusaders) will challenge Turkey, the Czech Republic and Portugal in Group F on June 18, 22 and 26. The second in this group will also challenge the winner of the French team group in the round of 16 of the European Nations Championship.
Note that the 2006 world vice-champion has as his assistant Adel Chedli, a former Tunisian international who was trained at the same time as him at AS Saint-Etienne. Former Newcastle player Zurab Khizanishvili is the second assistant.
