This summer, Paris Saint-Germain will lose Kylian Mbappé. But the capital club intends to compensate for this loss by being ambitious on the transfer market. Several high-sounding names have already been cited in the press (Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia, Bernardo Silva, Gyokeres). But the first recruit could be the most unexpected.

Russian media Championship ensures that PSG and Krasnodar (Rémy Cabella’s former club) would be very close to finalizing the transfer of Matvei Safonov to the Rouge et Bleu. An operation which would bring in €20 million plus bonuses to the Russian team. The media specifies that the 25-year-old Russian international (13 caps) is coming to play Gianluigi Donnarumma’s understudy.

A double for Donnarumma?

Indeed, with the departure of Keylor Navas, Paris certainly has Arnau Tenas, but the Spaniard could be loaned. Finally, the case of Sergio Rico remains unresolved. Safonov is in any case the number one goalkeeper in Russian football. Championship assures that Luis Campos would have personally observed the player. But who is this Safonov?

A starter in his national team, he took over from Akinfeev since Euro 2020. The Stade Rennais players may still remember him, because the Russian had disgusted the Bretons in the Champions League during the season 2020/2021. Young and promising, will Safonov really be in Paris next season? To be continued.
