One of the greatest coaches of the last 30 years has chosen to say stop!
While Mauricio Pochettino was dismissed this Tuesday from his duties as Chelsea coach, another famous technician who worked for the Blues chose to end his career. This is Claudio Ranieri.
At 72 years old, and after spending more than half his life on the bench, the transalpine technician chose to say stop. His last experience was on the Cagliari bench. With him, the Sardinians managed to hold on for the 2e year in a row in the Italian elite.
Leicester City won’t forget it
During his career, Ranieri has coached many big clubs, such as Chelsea, Juventus, Roma and Atlético Madrid. However, for a long time he was labeled as a manager incapable of winning trophies. During the first 30 years on the bench, he only won two national cups (Spain and Italy).
Ranieri ended up getting rid of this “loser” label. In 2016, he led Leicester City to the English title. And it is one of the greatest feats in the history of football. The Italian also made two passes in France, notably bringing AS Monaco up to Ligue 1.
