This Friday, Jürgen Klopp faced the media for his last press conference with the Reds, after nine years at Liverpool. The 56-year-old German technician was emotional before playing his last Premier League match, against Wolverhampton. “I experienced the most intense week of my life. Saying goodbye is never pleasant, but saying goodbye without feeling sad or hurt would mean the timing wasn’t right. The timing was great. It will be hard”he explained for his last.

In search of a new coach for next season, the Liverpool leaders had reached a total agreement with Arne Slot (45 years old) a few weeks ago, the Dutch coach of Feyenoord. If, for the moment, nothing is official, the 45-year-old Dutchman has already announced his arrival before the last Eredivisie match, against Excelsior on Sunday. ‘I can confirm that I will become Liverpool manager next year’he declared at a press conference.

Arne Slot looking forward to it

“Until now, I didn’t think about it while preparing for this last match of the season, but now is where it all starts. The feeling is stronger now. That’s why I’m a little late for the press conference, because I wanted to say goodbye to some people personally and take time for them, more than just shaking their hands. So yes, the excitement is growing”he added, thanking all the people he met during his time at Feyenoord.

To enlist him, Liverpool paid an amount between €10 and €15 million to the Stadionclub, since he was under contract with the Dutch team until June 30, 2026. Winner of the Eredivisie last year, then the Cup of the Netherlands this season, the 45-year-old manager should now be formalized shortly at the head of Liverpool. The start of a new era, where he will have the difficult task of doing as well, and even better, than Jürgen Klopp.
