For several months, the Gabonese striker has truly carried OM.
Arriving at Olympique de Marseille last summer, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was not spared from criticism during the first part of the season. For several months, the Gabonese international was criticized for not justifying his status as a star striker, receiving an astronomical salary of 700,000 euros per month.
Over time, the 34-year-old striker managed to completely reverse the trend, to the point of becoming the true cornerstone of the Marseille team. “This team doesn’t really have the players to control, they move quickly in transition and they rely on a man who will carry OM’s season, namely Aubameyang. He does everything in this team”observed Daniel Riolo on the airwaves of RMC.
Impressive statistics
And the sports journalist continued: “Aubameyang is not breathing but he is extremely important for this team… I still dare to hope that there is a doctor at the club who said that he could play without risk of injury four days before a semi-final European Cup”.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has already scored 27 goals this season, in 46 matches played in all competitions. He has even already become the third top scorer in OM history in the European Cup, only ahead of Jean-Pierre Papin and Mamadou Niang.
