Brazilian international Marquinhos leaves his mark a little more on the history of Paris Saint-Germain and that of French football.

Despite a draw at home against Le Havre (3-3), Paris Saint-Germain won their 12th French championship title this Saturday. Monaco’s defeat against Olympique Lyonnais (2-3) sealed the fate of the Rouge et Bleu, who thus celebrated their second consecutive coronation.

This new trophy allows Parisian captain Marquinhos to equal Marco Verratti at the top of the ranking of the most successful players in Ligue 1. The Brazilian and the Italian, who left the club last summer for Al-Arabi SC, now count both have 9 titles under their belt.

A quadruplet still relevant

Kylian Mbappé and Presnel Kimpembe, still present at PSG, are in second place in the ranking with 7 titles each. They are accompanied by Thiago Silva, Sydney Govou, Juninho, Jean-Michel Larqué and Hervé Revelli. Finally, the third step of the podium is occupied by Adrien Rabiot, Edinson Cavani, Claudio Caçapa, Patrick Müller, Robert Herbin and Georges Bereta, all titled 6 times.

With this 12th title, the capital club, winner of the Champions Trophy against Toulouse (2-0) in January, confirms its domination of French football. Luis Enrique’s men will now try to achieve the quadruple by winning the Coupe de France against OL and finally the long-awaited Champions League. We will first have to get a ticket for the final at Wembley by emerging victorious in the clash against Borussia Dortmund in the semi-final.
