José Mourinho has revealed the identity of the player who helped him the most during his time on the Manchester United bench.

José Mourinho won three trophies in his first season in charge of Manchester United. In an interview with the Telegraph, he looked back on this period of his career, highlighting the contribution of certain players during this prosperous year for the Red Devils (2016/2017).

The Portuguese coach believes that the element which played the key role in the triumphs gleaned was the Belgian Marouane Fellaini. “I won a Europa League final with (long balls from) Sergio Romero to Marouane Fellaini. Ajax pressed, but pressed ineffectively because the ball was not there. The ball landed on Fellaini’s chest. The game started from there. We brought the cup home. Three titles, in total. A disastrous season.”

Mourinho forgot Pogba

The Special One, on the other hand, said nothing about Pogba. The Frenchman had been a major player in that campaign. It must be believed that the Lusitano technician prefers above all to remember his escapades and the way in which he tumbled from the summit.

Since this year, MU has not won anything on the continental scene. And at domestic level, he was just content with success in the League Cup.
