By scoring against Lens on Sunday evening, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang established an impressive individual mark.

Olympique de Marseille may not be having the best season in its history, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is having a stratospheric season. The figures are there to prove it.

Sunday evening, during the Phocéens’ match against Lens, the Gabonese found the fault from the 1e minute of play. And this goal was his 27e of the season, all competitions combined.

Aubameyang compares with Drogba

The former Barcelona player becomes the first player to put so much on his 1e season with OM since a certain Didier Drogba in 2003/2004. Not a small performance, especially since there are only three players who have done better in history: Tony Cascarino (36 in 1994/95), Didier Drogba (32 in 2003/2004) and Alen Boskic (29 in 1992/1993). The current Olympian center forward can still hope to improve his total since there are still potentially six matches to play during the current campaign.

In Ligue 1, “Aubame” is 14 pawns away. He is five points away from his best total in the French elite. He established it during his last season at Saint-Etienne in 2012/2013.

Aubameyang is now crossing his fingers that all his efforts will be of some use and that he manages to end the season with a collective trophy. For this, there are no other solutions than to go for the Europa League. A test in which he is the top scorer in history.
