After OM’s victory against Lens, northern frustration contrasted with Marseille euphoria.

Olympique de Marseille achieved an excellent operation this Sunday evening, winning (2-1) the closing match of the 31st day against Racing Club de Lens. The Marseille club moved up to seventh place, coming back to just two points behind their evening visitors.

Just after the final whistle, Wesley Saïd suffered the blow. “We’re shooting ourselves in the foot. The two goals we scored are two mistakes. We’re not aggressive enough. We conceded a goal quite early in the match. This one had to be cleared. We’re trying to play short, but to leave here with a point was a good result.”reacted the Lensois striker at the microphone of Prime Video.

“A collective success” for OM

In the opposing camp, Iliman Ndiaye did not hide his joy. “It’s a collective success, the most important thing was to get into this match well, we stayed focused despite the equalizer and we went for the second goal. The whole team is giving their all for this club, we’re giving our all, it’s the perfect preparation for Thursday and we’re staying in the race for Europe.”declared the Senegalese international.

Friday, Lens will host Lorient on the 33rd day of Ligue 1. Olympique de Marseille will not play in the league again before May 12, also against Merlus. Jean-Louis Gasset’s men are preparing to play their Europa League semi-final against Atalanta Bergamo.
