Duel for remaining in the Bundesliga this Sunday. Playoff, Mainz hosted the relegated Cologne with the desire to escape from the red zone. And it started perfectly for Bo Henriksen’s players. Just before the half-hour mark, Leandro Barreiro would find the fault for Mainz (1-0, 29th). Trailing at the break, Cologne came close to coming back to score.

The Boucs obtained a penalty but Gian-Luca Waldschmidt failed to convert the penalty (48th). Finally, Cologne snatched a draw at the end of the match via Florian Kainz from the penalty spot (90th +5). Phillipp Mwene was also excluded for Mainz at the end of the match (90th +7). This 1-1 draw does not help anyone since Mainz remains two points behind Bochum, the first non-relegation team. For Cologne, maintaining is still far away.
