FC Barcelona have reportedly completed the arrival of their first summer recruit.

Left out of the title race, eliminated in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, FC Barcelona is already working on the outlines of next season’s squad. After announcing, against all expectations, the retention of Xavi, still under contract until 2025, Barcelona leaders can now fully concentrate on the summer transfer window.

According to information from Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan decision-makers have even already completed a first arrival. This would be Guido Rodriguez, defensive midfielder for Betis Sevilla, at the end of his contract on June 30. If nothing is signed yet, the two parties would have reached a verbal agreement.

An old OL track

A time coveted by Olympique Lyonnais, the 30-year-old Argentinian should commit for the next two seasons with the Blaugrana, plus an optional year, according to the indiscretions of Sport journalist Toni Juanmarti. All that would be missing were a few details to be resolved.

Sports director Deco and president Joan Laporta would have promised a big transfer window to Xavi to convince him to stay for another season. “The club assured Xavi that there would be important signings and that there would be sales to finance them”reported the Catalan daily Sport.
