A week after its elimination in the Champions League, Atlético de Madrid got its head back on track. Facing their first pursuer Bilbao this Saturday, the Colchoneros won 3-1, enough to consolidate their 4th place in La Liga.

Rodrigo de Paul opened the scoring (1-0, 15th), before Nico Williams responded (1-1, 45th). Returning from the locker room (2-1, 52nd), Angel Correa allowed Atlético to take the lead again. It was ultimately an own goal from Unai Simon who extinguished the Basque hopes at the end of the match (3-1, 80th). In the standings, Atlético (64 points) remains 4th and trails Bilbao, 5th, by 6 units.
