Leny Yoro, the ultimate twist

Real Madrid have been heavily linked with Canadian full-back Alphonso Davies over the past year, with many expecting him to arrive this summer.

However, this now seems unlikely, according to the latest information from the Spanish capital. Davies has not renewed his contract with Bayern Munich, which has just one year remaining, and has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Los Blancos. The Bavarian club have made it known publicly that if Davies does not renew his lease, they will look to sell him this summer.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid had planned to sign him at a reduced price, between 30 and 40 million euros, but Relevo revealed that contacts between Davies and Real Madrid have cooled in recent weeks. Only in the event of an agreement on very advantageous conditions or the departure of Ferland Mendy this summer will the Madrilenians consider concluding an agreement.

Yoro rather than Davies

The reason is a change in priorities for Los Blancos. Mendy’s performances have been a pleasant surprise for Real Madrid, and he could be re-signed, although some within the club believe he should be sold. Alongside this development, David Alaba’s injury and the likely departure of Nacho Fernandez mean Madrid will focus their efforts on recruiting Lille defender Leny Yoro this summer.

The young 18-year-old defender, who interests Real Madrid and whom he has been following for months, has become a privileged target, with the Madrilenians seeking to secure the services of this generational talent, by all accounts. Yoro, who has just one year left on his contract, is keen to leave and it appears he will be sold this summer. The following summer, the door will be open for Davies, who will be able to join Bayern for free.
