Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has revealed details of Bruno Guimaraes’ £100million release clause.

Guimaraes has been under scrutiny for a move away from the Magpies this summer thanks to his form this season. According to some sources, Newcastle could receive offers from Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, among others. The Newcastle boss has revealed a particular detail in Guimaraes’ contract that will allow the club to avoid a lot of tension ahead of the summer.

Speaking to the media, Howe said (via The Guardian): “We have planned and structured this operation well in the sense that there is an arrival point. We don’t want a summer of speculation. I don’t think it’s healthy for the player or for us. »

A very high price

We want to keep Bruno. We want to build our team around him. It is an integral part of what we do. He is in very good shape. He seems very happy and well settled here. He plays an important role in the development of the team. But we don’t have control over all of that, so we’ll see.”

With Guimaraes’ release clause due to expire in June, the club will be able to dissuade any other club from recruiting the Brazilian pivot by simply increasing the price asked by the requesting club. Although Howe revealed that neither he nor the club had any intention of selling Guimaraes this summer, his sale at the given release clause would significantly help the club by giving it greater margin with the profitability and sustainability rules of the Premier League.

Guimaraes’ release clause will expire at midnight on June 30 and, after that date, any interested club will have to negotiate with the Magpies to secure his services. It will also give Howe enough time to look for a replacement if the Brazilian leaves the club.
