Undefeated since the start of the season, Bayer Leverkusen avoided their first defeat by equalizing again after added time against Stuttgart (2-2).

It’s completely crazy what Leverkusen is doing. Already assured of the German championship title, Bayer is now fighting to achieve the immense feat of finishing the season undefeated.

Xabi Alonso’s men almost gave in this Saturday for the very first time in 2023-2024, in front of their home crowd, against VfB Stuttgart. But once again, as has happened so many times this season, especially in recent weeks, the Bayer players managed to equalize after added time (2-2).

The goal in the 97th minute, like against Dortmund

After a goalless first period, the visitors took the lead after returning from the locker room thanks to Chris Fuhrich (47th) and Deniz Undav (57th). Former Toulousain Yacine Adli revived his team (62nd), and after a decisive save from Lukas Hradecky to avoid the third opposing goal (87th), Leverkusen equalized on the very last action of the match, a set piece where Robert Andrich found the net (90th + 7). Same minute as Stanisic’s equalizer against Dortmund last weekend.

This is therefore the 46th match without defeat this season for Leverkusen, in all competitions, a record which can still be improved. Bayer will continue on Thursday against Roma in the Europa League, in order to maintain this completely crazy dream.
