Thomas Tuchel must leave Bayern Munich next June. But a wave of protest is rising among Bavarian supporters. It aims to retain the coach.

Clearly, Bayern Munich’s 2023-2024 season is anything but a smooth ride. Exited in the round of 16 of the German Cup by the modest team of Saarbrücken on November 1 (2-1), Thomas Tuchel’s team then, and very quickly, lost all hope of a title in the Bundesliga, overwhelmed and even cast aside by the insolent success of Bayer Leverkusen finally crowned for the first time in its history. All that remains is the Champions League to try to save the furniture, before seeing Bayern turn the page on Tuchel. Except that not everyone agrees on this last point.

A few weeks ago, the former Paris Saint-Germain tactician had agreed with Bayern management to leave his post at the end of the season, although he was hired until June 2025. But now some Voices were raised to demand that Tuchel remain next season. As reported RMC this Friday, a petition favorable to the German is working well. More than ten thousand signatories have already signed their electronic signature to ask that Thomas Tuchel continue the adventure at Bayern.

A bright future envisioned

In summary, the creator of this petition explained that Thomas Tuchel was in the direct line of a certain Jupp Heynckes, notable coach of Bayern Munich who also had a titleless season in 2011-2012 before shining on the bench Bavarian the following season, with a historic Bundesliga-German Cup-Champions League treble in 2013. The fact remains that Thomas Tuchel does not seem very inclined to stay in Munich and the desire for separation is also the same at the top of management of the club.

On the side of the signatories of the petition, it is also the rejection of the hottest lead concerning the potential successor of Tuchel, which is blatant. While Zinedine Zidane has virtually no chance of being nominated, Ralf Rangnick is the favorite. And that doesn’t please some supporters at all. Current coach of Austria, the latter had a not very transcendent stint with Manchester United before the arrival of Erik ten Hag. And besides, the Mancunian club has placed itself on the Tuchel file. Not sure that a simple petition will be enough to stop this game of musical chairs in full swing.
