A Brazilian prodigy at 55 million euros cracks PSG and Monaco

Brazil has always been a buoyant economic market for Ligue 1 clubs. And PSG, like Monaco, intend to perpetuate this heritage. Under the leadership of Luis Campos, the capital club works behind the scenes to unearth the talents of tomorrow. This is how Lucas Beraldo (ex-São Paulo) and Gabriel Moscardo (Corinthians, who will join the capital this summer) signed up for PSG for a package of 40 million euros in January (excluding bonus). If they had other opportunities on the table, PSG knew how to pull on the heartstrings to convince them to join France.

For its part, ASM now works under the leadership of its Brazilian sports director, Thiago Scuro, who arrived last summer from Red Bull Bragantino, and who knows the Brazilian market like few others. It is also for this reason that his ideas converge today with those of Luis Campos and the PSG recruitment unit. Because as the Spanish newspaper reveals Sport this Friday, the two clubs are now tackling a new Auriverde nugget: Luis Guilherme.

A release clause of 55 million euros

Brazilian U20 international, Guilherme now plays for the Palmeiras club. An open-air laboratory, which had already released in recent months Endrick, recruited at a high price by Real Madrid, but also Messinho, another Brazilian sensation courted by all of Europe. But now, it is towards Guilherme that the European radars are turning. An unbalancing winger, capable of playing both on the left and on the right, the 18-year-old left-hander is in his second professional season.

If he is not a full-fledged starter in Abel Ferreira’s eleven, his qualities are unmistakable. Last night, it was the Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle – where future Chelsea star Kendry Paez plays – who paid the price in the Copa Libertadores. Entering the game, Guilherme gave his team victory in the 95th minute with a magnificent left-footed strike (3-2). A performance which certainly reinforced PSG and Monaco in their desire to sign him. But for that, it will be necessary to face significant obstacles such as the prohibitive price of its release clause (55 million euros), and the position of the president of Palmeiras Leila Pereira, inflexible in the negotiations.
