Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti surprised the media by revealing that Thibaut Courtois could return to action as early as next week.

The Belgian goalkeeper was sidelined for the remainder of the season following a torn meniscus in his knee, but recovered in record time.

It was indeed thought that Courtois would be absent for the entire campaign, with an initial diagnosis of 6 weeks to 3 months of absence following an operation. It was an injury he suffered while returning from a torn anterior cruciate ligament a few days before the start of the season. The 31-year-old could return a month after his injury.

Militao also recovered?

“I have to think carefully about the composition of the team. The wear and tear was significant. I have to think. I also have to say that Courtois is doing well, I think he will be available next week. He could play against Cadiz“, reveals Carlo Ancelotti to the media this Thursday.

The Italian then confirmed that Arda Guler could play against Real Sociedad on Friday night, and that he could also start Eder Militao. “He’s improved, but he’s not 100% yet. He may be a starter. And maybe not.”
