Real Madrid could lose their best player

At Real Madrid, few players have had a better week than Lucas Vazquez. And this once again focused discussions around its future.

Vazquez was involved in all three of Real Madrid’s goals, winning the penalty, scoring and providing an assist, as he dominated Joao Cancelo on the flank.

At 33 years old, Vazquez often goes unnoticed, but he again proved his worth during the second half of the season. Carlo Ancelotti also congratulated him after the Clasico, Jude Bellingham too.

Vazquez towards the start?

According to Relevo and Diario AS, Real Madrid are looking to advance negotiations over his future this week, and will contact his agent to do so. Los Blancos will try to extend his contract for another year, while Diario AS suggest he could have more than a year left on his lease. Matteo Moretto claims Vazquez is much more likely to stay than leave, despite his evasive response on his future after the Clasico.

The former Espanyol winger is expected to start Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich, with Dani Carvajal suspended for that match. He continues to be a reliable alternative to Carvajal, and has a positive influence on the locker room, even if he is often used less than many players would like.
