Last week, Paris Saint-Germain eliminated FC Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. This Wednesday, the president of PSG also revealed one of the conversations he had with the Spanish leader. This concerned the Super League, which he opposes as president of the ECA. “There are a lot of things happening like the Club World Cup. It’s a good tournament for European clubs, not only for those participating, but also for clubs not participating in Europe. So all this is happening without them (the Super League members). So we will not stop and we will not wait. I want to say that the expansion of football continues and we are very happy, proud. The unity I see within the ECA is incredible. So we are all very proud and we will continue to work on this. And I told Joan Laporta when I saw him, I asked him: “When are they going to stop the stupid idea of the Super League? I hope you stop that soon. And you know, the others will soon too, I’m sure, because it doesn’t make sense. It remains to be seen whether Laporta has been convinced by the idea of abandoning the SL.
