Mehdi Benatia spoke this week about the Olympique de Marseille transfer window.
Recruited this winter from the Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt, Faris Moumbagna is starting to make his mark at Olympique de Marseille. Despite his technical limitations, the Cameroonian striker saw his popularity increase after his decisive goals against Benfica Lisbon and Toulouse.
Instinctive and powerful, Moumbagna is not unanimous. But according to Mehdi Benatia, Olympique de Marseille was not mistaken in banking on his profile.
“We were looking for a mover”
Called to comment on this arrival, the former Moroccan international defender explained why Marseille had secured the services of this attacker.
“When he was recommended to us by the club’s recruitment unit, we were looking for a mover, a guy to lean on up front, who will go into battle and who comes in complement with a totally different profile. There, with four goals and an assist, we are not at all looking at catastrophic player stats and we are at least obliged to recognize a certain perseverance in him. He is athletic, goes very fast, has a lot of qualities required in modern football but I often remind him that he also has to go through a large amount of work. If he was finished at 23, it would be known”. Encouraging words which should not leave Faris Moumbagna indifferent.
