Author of a double against Lorient, Kylian Mbappé has just erased a mark which belonged to Just Fontaine.

Kylian Mbappé reconnected this Wednesday evening with what he does best. Stack the goals. During the match played by PSG in Lorient (4-1), the Bondyn crack scored a double. Two new achievements which notably allow him to count 43 pawns, all competitions combined (in 43 matches played). This is his record in a campaign.

The French international also became the French player to score the most goals in one year, also counting the matches played with the Blues. He totaled 54 and that’s one more than Just Fontaine (53 during the 1957/1958 season).

Mbappé continues to climb the heights

At Moustoir, Mbappé also scored the 190th goal of his career in Ligue 1. He is now 12th in the ranking of the best French directors in the five major European championships. A ranking dominated by Karim Benzema, with 281 goals scored.

Finally, and for completeness, let us note that Mbappé becomes the first French player in history to have reached the 25-goal mark in 4 consecutive seasons in the 5 major championships (27 in 2020/21, 28 in 2021/22, 29 in 2022/23, 25 in 2023/24).
